Fundamentals of Risk Assessment Training Course
Designed for HSE Professionals, Engineers, Supervisors, Project managers, and future Process Hazards Analysis team members requiring a foundation in risk assessment fundamentals. Risk assessment is a management tool to aid decision making and, in some cases, meeting regulatory requirements.
In this course the participant will learn to identify and manage risk within the framework of a management system. Using lecture, discussion, case studies and worked problems, attendees will learn how to identify hazards, determine the probable consequences and likelihood of the hazards, and recommend actions to eliminate or mitigate the hazard. Exercises from James Reason’s book, “Managing the Risk of Organizational Accidents” will be used to stress how organizations perceive and manage risk. Throughout the course, participants will study how management system breakdowns contribute to incidents.
